An account of the proceedings of the first day only (October 12, 1819) dealing wholly with the information against Carlile for publishing the Age of reason, which work together with Paine's Examination of the passages in the New Testament quoted from the Old and called prophecies concerning Jesus Christ (published by Carlile as The age of reason, part the third) was read in court by Carlile, interspersed with comments, and thus printed in the present report (p. 38-156 and 157-202).
